U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, May 16 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Thursday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.11 percent to 104.462 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.0871 U.S. dollars from 1.0878 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound lost to 1.2675 U.S. dollars from 1.2680 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 155.33 Japanese yen, higher than 154.91 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar added to 0.9052 Swiss francs from 0.9030 Swiss francs, and it increased to 1.3613 Canadian dollars from 1.3603 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was up to 10.7032 Swedish kronor from 10.6648 Swedish kronor.
