Crude futures settle higher

NEW YORK, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Oil prices advanced on Thursday.

The West Texas Intermediate for June delivery increased by 60 cents, or 0.76 percent, to settle at 79.23 U.S. dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for July delivery gained 52 cents, or 0.63 percent, to settle at 83.27 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.
