U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, May 27 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.12 percent to 104.595 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.0857 U.S. dollars from 1.0850 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound increased to 1.2769 U.S. dollars from 1.2738 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 156.87 Japanese yen, lower than 156.98 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar dropped to 0.9135 Swiss francs from 0.9146 Swiss francs, and it lost to 1.3632 Canadian dollars from 1.3663 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar fell to 10.6126 Swedish kronor from 10.6575 Swedish kronor.
