U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, June 4 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.04 percent to 104.111 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.0882 U.S. dollars from 1.0890 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was down to 1.2781 U.S. dollars from 1.2793 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 154.71 Japanese yen, lower than 156.04 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar declined to 0.8895 Swiss francs from 0.8954 Swiss francs, and it was up to 1.3680 Canadian dollars from 1.3627 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar climbed to 10.4360 Swedish kronor from 10.4083 Swedish kronor.
