U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, June 24 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.31 percent to 105.473 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.0736 dollars from 1.0695 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound climbed to 1.2691 dollars from 1.2647 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 159.64 Japanese yen, higher than 159.54 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar dropped to 0.8929 Swiss francs from 0.8942 Swiss francs, and it was down to 1.3652 Canadian dollars from 1.3699 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar fell to 10.4730 Swedish Kronor from 10.5128 Swedish Kronor.
