China's basic telecom operator China Unicom (CHU.NYSE; 00762.HK; 600050.SH) announced on Thursday afternoon its mobile subscribers reached 287.57 million by the end of September, down 3.2 percent year on year.
In September, the company's mobile subscribers increased 287,000, comparing to an increase of 544,000 for the same period of 2014. China Unicom said its 3G and 4G mobile subscribers increased 4.81 million in September to 172.48 million.
In the fixed-line telecom business sector, China Unicom added 158,000 broadband subscribers in September, which brought the total to 71.69 million. Its local access subscribers decreased 925,000 in the month to 76.52 million.
