China's leading IT Company Alibaba (BABA.NYSE) has had its YunOS operating system for TV boxes and smart TVs upgraded before Sunday according to the requirement of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT) and other relevant authorities.
All TV boxes and smart TVs that run YunOS are compelled to upgrade the system, after which 81 illegal third-party Apps are removed and banned from installing into the YunOS again.
According to Alibaba, the SAPPRFT publicized the 81 Apps as the first batch of blacklisted Apps to be banned. Industry insiders said previously that these Apps provide overseas TV programs illegally.
