German car producer Audi AG reported Wednesday that it saw substantial growth in April in the Chinese market, one of its largest markets.

According to the report, Audi delivered a total of 49,576 vehicles to Chinese customers in April, representing a year-on-year growth of 9.4 percent. Meanwhile, the new A4 L model is scheduled to arrive at Chinese dealerships in the second half of 2016.

The company said the long- wheel base version of the car, developed specifically for Chinese customers, made its world premiere in Beijing at the end of April. In April, Audi's worldwide deliveries climbed 7.5 percent, compared to April 2015, to around 164,350 automobiles, the Ingolstadt-based company announced.

"We continued to increase sales in all of our core regions which reflects the sound balance of our business. In China, the trend is positive. In the United States and Europe, Audi has been growing faster than the market since the start of the year," Dietmar Voggenreiter, member of the board of management for sales and marketing, said.
