BEIJING, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Beijing Automotive Group Co., Ltd. (BAIC) announced that it had sold 573,000 vehicles in the first quarter of 2019, up 3.7 percent year on year.
The automaker achieved a revenue of 123.68 billion yuan (18.4 billion U.S. dollars) in the first quarter, up 11.6 percent year on year, with the profit increasing by 13.6 percent.
From January to March, BAIC achieved a whole-vehicle export of 21,200 units, up 25.8 percent year on year.
The company sold 145,000 units of Beijing Benz (Mercedes-Benz), up 14.3 percent year on year, and 169,000 units of Beijing Hyundai as well.
Zhang Xiyong, general manager of BAIC, said the group is actively promoting its new energy vehicles and high-end products, planning to launch the first new energy model of Beijing Benz by October.
Established in 1958 and headquartered in Beijing, BAIC sold more than 2.4 million vehicles in 2018.
