U.S.-listed Chinese firms trade mostly lower

U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly lower on Tuesday with all of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on a downbeat note.

Shares of Trip.com Group and TAL Education Group declined 7.91 percent and 3.83 percent, respectively, the top two laggards in the top 10 stocks in the index.

U.S. stocks closed lower on Tuesday as investors digested quarterly earnings reports and key economic data.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased 152.06 points, or 0.52 percent, to 29,196.04. The S&P 500 fell 8.83 points, or 0.27 percent, to 3,320.79. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 18.14 points, or 0.19 percent, to 9,370.81.

As of Friday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 3,418.51, marking a 7.93-percent increase for the month-to-date returns and a 7.93-percent gain for the year-to-date returns.

U.S. stock markets were closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
