China's agricultural product prices up

BEIJING, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Wholesale prices of China's major farm produce went up during the week from Nov. 10 to 16, data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs showed.

The wholesale price index of China's major agricultural products stood at 115.94, up 0.73 points from the previous week and 10.3 points lower from the same period last year, according to the ministry.

The average wholesale price for pork, China's staple meat, dipped 1.1 percent on a weekly basis to 20.31 yuan (2.84 U.S. dollars) per kilo, a decline of 41.8 percent year on year.

The figure for eggs edged down 1.5 percent week on week to 9.99 yuan per kilo. It also fell 20 percent from the previous year.

During the same period, the average wholesale price of 19 vegetables tracked by the government dropped 8.9 percent year on year to 3.5 yuan per kilo, while that for six key fruits climbed 4 percent to 6.81 yuan per kilo.
