Various projects implemented for Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region

At a beginning of a new 5-year planning, China’s economic space structure is under innovation, reform and breakthroughs.

It was learnt by SSN on Nov. 4 from authoritative channel that various authorities including National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) are speeding up to promote “the Belt and Road” initiatives, synergetic development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, strategy for three regional developments of Yangtze River Economic Zone and implementation of urbanization projects, which have already formed a series of new economic growth zone and points. In terms of implementation, authorities including NDRC will adopt a series of policies and measures, for example, to support enterprises to participate in construction of three strategies with low-cost overseas capital.

Various projects implemented in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region

 “End-breaking projects”, such as Beijing-Zhang Jiakou High-speed Railway, Beijing Universal Studios, new Beijing airport and Beijing-Taibei Expressway connect Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, promoting implementations of various projects.

Beijing-Zhang Jiakou High-speed Railway with planned investment of nearly 60 billion yuan was officially approved by NDRC recently, which will greatly enhance development in Zhang Jiakou based on 2020 Olympic Winter Games, and further deepen synergetic development of Beijing and Zhang Jiakou.

Construction for a series of major transport projects will be accelerated and promoted for traffic integration of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region according to the plan revealed by Liu Pengfei, press spokesman of Ministry of Transport. In terms of railway, besides that preliminary work for extension of Beijing-Tianjin interurban high-speed railway, Tianjin-Baoding railway, Beijing-Shenyang railway, Beijing-Baizhou railway and etc. is accelerated, Beijing-Bin Hai of Tianjin inter-city high-speed railway and Beijing-Tangshan interurban railway are likely to initiate the construction at the end of this year.

Additionally, piling of new Beijing airport and construction of Beijing Universal Studios will initiate from this week. Oil refining project of 10 million ton in Cao Feidian will be under construction soon, likely to strengthen the development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region.

Regional economic restructuring accelerated

The “B&R” initiatives and Yangtze River Economic Zone strategies have achieved initial results.

Statistics show that during the first half year, Chinese Enterprises had contracted over 1,100 projects with value over 25 billion US dollars in countries and regions along the “B&R”. Among these projects, the construction of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has been advanced smoothly; phase II of China-Tajikistan Highway, Central Asia-China Natural Gas Pipeline Line D have speed up; Moscow-Kazan High-speed Railway, China-Laos-Thailand Railway project have progressed orderly; the construction of China-Belarus Industrial Park has commenced.

In the first three quarters this year, countries along the “B&R” had invested over 6.12 billion US dollars in China, up 18.4 percent year on year.

The construction of Yangtze River Economic Zone has been proceeding in an orderly way, with pre-feasibility study of new channels cross three gorges dam lock started; key projects, including phaseⅡof 12.5deep water channel project along Yangtze River downstream Nanjing, Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou Railway, the expansion of Zunyi-Gui Yang Highway in Guizhou Province and Wushan Airport in Chongqing have started. China has also been actively pushing forward integrative development of metropolitan areas in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, and supporting the construction of national demonstration development zone of transformation and upgrading, and national pilot cities which benefiting the people with information.

Particularly, the NDRC has pointed out on 4 Oct. that priorities should be given to stabilizing growth in the fourth quarter, and competent authorities should started arrange in advance the investment works within the budget of the central government for the next year, support the abovementioned three strategies, new-type urbanization and key projects in the 13th Five-year Plan. This will undoubtedly add more power to the three strategies.
