China Environmental United Certification Center (CEC) and Ukrainian Center for Environmental Certification and Labeling (UCECL) on Friday signed an agreement on mutual recognition of environmental labels.

The deal enables Chinese companies to obtain Ukrainian environmental labeling certification in China and allows Ukrainian producers to get Chinese environmental labels in Ukraine.

The agreement, which establishes standards under the international ISO14024 system, would cover certification of over 100 groups of goods and services produced in China and Ukraine, including food products, building materials, textile goods, household chemicals, electronic equipment and other products.

Speaking during the signing ceremony of the deal in Kiev, CEC Chairman Song Tiedong said the agreement is designed to enhance cooperation between Ukraine and China on green energy and facilitate trade between the two countries.

"The deal would allow us to remove barriers in green trade and lay a good foundation for further cooperation," Song said. Meanwhile, Svitlana Berzina, the head of the UCECL, said that the deal could be an effective tool to foster the production of eco-friendly goods in Ukraine and China, which will benefit the consumers of both countries.

"Greening of production will meet the interests of consumers, which each year pay more attention to a healthy lifestyle, healthy food and environmental safety of goods," Berzina said.
