A new offline payment system for smart devices that does not require a bank card was announced by China CITIC Bank on Wednesday.
The "Cloud QuickPass" does away with bank cards altogether and uses near-field communication (NFC) so that bills can be paid by tapping on an icon. It is easy to use, safe, user friendly and offers a more convenient, efficient and secure paying experience, according to the bank.
More than 5 million POS terminals with UnionPay QuickPass logo across the country can support the service, CITIC said. China's State Council on Tuesday pledged to boost the connection between online and offline businesses to spur market vitality, making people's lives more convenient.
