Altogether 169 merger and acquisition (M A) deals took place in China in January, with transaction values totaling 10.07 billion US dollars, according to statistics released by ChinaVenture on Friday.
The number of M A deals and their disclosed value of transaction respectively witnessed a month-on-month decline of 64.79 percent and 53.36 percent during the period. In terms of industries, the internet industry ranked top with 29 deals in January, accounting for 17.16 percent of the total.
It was followed by the IT and manufacturing industries which had 29 deals and 25 deals respectively, making up 17.16 percent and 14.79 percent of the total. In terms of transaction volume, the internet industry ranked the first with 2.892 billion US dollars, accounting for 29 percent of the total. It is followed by the manufacturing and comprehensive industries, with 2.773 billion US dollars and 2.392 billion US dollars respectively.
