China Unicom (CHU.NYSE; 00762.HK; 600050.SH), one of China's three basic telecom operators, denied market rumor that it would merge with another basic telecom operator China Telecom (CHA.NYSE; 00728.HK), Announcing on its official microblog on Friday, China Unicom said that its plan to share base stations with China Telecom had been misread as merger with the latter.
China Unicom disclosed that it has worked out a document on suggestions for sharing 4G networks with China Telecom, which advice the two companies to share each other's resources and techniques and to jointly form a working group to ensure in-depth cooperation of the two sides.
