Vice Premier Liu Yandong on Monday called on medical workers to contribute more to the building of a "healthy" country.
Liu was speaking during an event to mark the 100th anniversary of founding of the Chinese Medical Association (CMA). The CMA is a non-profit registered academic and commonweal corporate body voluntarily made up of Chinese medical science and technology professionals.
Medical workers have played an important role in advancing the country's healthcare development and safeguarding the public's health since the founding of New China in 1949, the vice premier said.
She called on all medical staff to explore medical reform and research, increase international exchanges and devote themselves to the better lives of others.
