Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) services will be available to all people by 2020, according to an official from the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SATCM).

SATCM deputy director Yu Wenming said this on Friday during a press briefing held by the Information Office of the State Council. Basic TCM services are expected to be accessible to all Chinese citizens by 2020, with the services to reach a higher level and play a bigger role in ensuring people's health by 2030, Yu said, citing a national development strategy for the TCM that has been discussed at an executive meeting of the State Council.

A TCM service network will be established to help TCM departments across the country work together and pool resources, said Yu. The total production value of the TCM industry is expected to account for over 30 percent of that of the pharmaceutical industry before 2030,according to targets set in the plan.
