Airbus's facility in north China's Tianjin will start producing A330 aircraft in July and deliver the first jet in September, said a senior executive here on Monday.

Airbus's first "completion and delivery center" for the wide-body aircraft outside Europe will produce three A330 jets this year, said Zhuo Yu, director of Flightline and Ground Handling at the Airbus Final Assembly Line in Tianjin, when attending the sixth session of the 16th Tianjin Municipal People's Congress on Monday.

She said that the center will reach a monthly output of two A330 aircraft when the production line is operating fully.

Zhuo said since Airbus's Tianjin facility started operations in 2008, it has finished production of 300 A320-series aircraft.

In 2016, it set a new sales record by delivering 51 aircraft. The European aircraft manufacturer wants to establish itself in China's booming aviation market, where the company faces fierce competition from its U.S. rival Boeing.
