BEIJING, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- China's 25 leading excavator makers sold a total of 9,942 excavators in January, down 15.4 percent year on year, data from the China Construction Machinery Association showed.
In breakdown, 7,758 excavators were sold in the domestic market, falling 23.5 percent year on year, while exports of the equipment surged 35.3 percent to 2,184.
Sales of digging machines are an important indicator of the vitality of an economy as demand is usually backed by growth in mining and infrastructure development.
China's excavator sales totaled 235,693 in 2019, jumping 15.9 percent year on year.
