Steel consumption in China's construction industry in 2015 is expected to fall 7.2 percent year on year to 360 million metric tons (tonnes), according to Li Xinchuang, head of China Metallurgical Industry Planning and Research Institute on Monday.
This year, the real estate industry in China focused mainly on de-stocking with a continuous fall in property construction areas.
The country's investments in the urban infrastructure further expanded due to policy support and needs of the urbanization construction.
China's investment in the transportation infrastructure remained high. Due to negative growth in coal production and consumption, construction of coal mines fell.
Given the above factors, China's construction industry is projected to consume 360 million tonnes of steel, down 7.2 percent year on year, said Li.
