China's three basic telecom operators are expected to stop zeroing out remaining data volume of mobile telecom users from October 1, the IT news portal Tech.sina.com reported on Wednesday.

The new service will be available for all telecom service subscribers. Specifically, users will be able to use their remaining data volume in the next month, when the remaining data volume of the previous month will be consumed first.

In fact, some carriers have rolled out data packages for half year or full year, partly stopping zeroing out remaining data monthly.

Fu Liang, an independent analyst of the telecom industry, said the new service will cause considerable impact on the profits of China Unicom (CHU.NYSE; 00762.HK; 600050.SH) and China Telecom (CHA.NYSE; 00728.HK).
