The State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) accepted 1.876 million patent applications in total in the first three quarters of 2015, up 22 percent year on year, the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) said on Friday.
China grants patents for three major categories: invention, utility model and design.
In the first nine months, the number of the three kinds of patent applications was 709,000, 779,000, and 388,000 respectively, up 21.7 percent, 33.6 percent and 4.4 percent year on year.
The SIPO authorized 1.176 million patent applications during the period, registering a year-on-year increase of 25.8 percent.
Of the total, authorized patent applications of invention, utility model and design were 248,000, 599,000 and 329,000 respectively, up 46 percent, 18.9 percent and 26.1 percent year on year.
