China General Nuclear Power Corp. (CGN), a leading nuclear power supplier in China, will start construction of the second phase of the Fangchenggang nuclear power plant before the end of this year.
The nuclear power plant, located in south China's Guangxi, is a model site to showcase the company's "Huanglong Number One" nuclear power technology, which CGN plans to use in nuclear power projects in the UK.
CGN and Electricite de France (EDF) announced an agreement on Oct. 21 to jointly invest in a British nuclear power plant.
CGN will finance 33.5 percent of the Hinkley Point project, which is estimated to cost 18 billion pounds. The two companies will also cooperate in other British nuclear projects, including one at Bradwell.
