U.S. dollar declines as risk appetite eases

NEW YORK, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar traded lower Wednesday against traditional safe-haven currencies like Japanese yen and Swiss franc as investors' risk appetite eased amid trade uncertainties.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased 0.04 percent at 97.9502 in late trading.

In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.1068 dollars from 1.1063 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.2852 dollars from 1.2880 dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar fell to 0.6878 dollar from 0.6890 dollar.

The dollar bought 108.93 Japanese yen, lower than 109.22 Japanese yen of the previous session. The dollar was down to 0.9924 Swiss franc from 0.9933 Swiss franc, and it increased to 1.3183 Canadian dollars from 1.3158 Canadian dollars.
