U.S. dollar declines on Thanksgiving Day

NEW YORK, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar declined slightly in late trading on Thursday as the country celebrated Thanksgiving Day.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, fell 0.04 percent at 98.3333 in late trading.

In late New York trading, the euro increased to 1.1009 dollars from 1.1004 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.2907 dollars from 1.2912 U.S. dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar decreased to 0.6767 dollar from 0.6778 dollar.

The U.S. dollar bought 109.52 Japanese yen, lower than 109.57 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.9989 Swiss franc from 0.9995 Swiss franc, and it decreased to 1.3280 Canadian dollars from 1.3281 Canadian dollars.
