The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, was up 0.01 percent at 97.621 in late trading.
In late New York trading, the euro decreased to 1.1092 U. S. dollars from 1.1093 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.3002 dollars from 1.3016 dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar was down to 0.6873 U.S. dollar from 0.6874 dollar.
The U.S. dollar bought 110.15 Japanese yen, the same as 110.15 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.9685 Swiss franc from 0.9678 Swiss franc, and it fell to 1.3045 Canadian dollars from 1.3063 Canadian dollars.
