Chinese futures trade shrinks in Sept. compared to Aug.

China completed 276,341,426 lots of futures trades with total value of 14,089.207 billion yuan in September, down 19.07 percent and 77.8 percent, respectively, from August, according to the latest data from China Futures Association.

On a year-on-year basis, the futures trade volume was 14.09 percent higher while the trade value dropped 42.54 percent in September. The margins for three most active stock futures contracts were raised to 40 percent in September, leading to a sharp decline in the stock futures trade, said Founder CIFCO Futures.

Meanwhile, the trade scale of most futures commodities, including fodders, steel, energy, precious metals, etc., shrank sharply in September. In January-September, China saw 2,702,723,070 lots of futures trades worth 512,261.927 billion yuan, up 59.64 percent and 179.69 percent, respectively, year on year.
