Germany's benchmark DAX index closes up

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Wednesday went up slightly and closed at 11,211.85 points. The blue-chip index fluctuated on Wednesday as both positive and negative information was spread.

The biggest auto company in Germany Volkswagen lowered its sales expectation. The recovery of the Chinese stock exchange boosted the confidence of investors here, according to local analysts.

The DAX index added 37.94 points, or 0.34 percent. Bayer AG topped the list of risers with an increase fo 3.93 percent. Merck KGaA, a pharmaceutical, chemical and life science company, advanced by 2.01 percent. K+S Aktiengesellschaft, a supplier of standard and speciality fertilizers, climbed by 1.76 percent.

Deutsche Telekom AG rose b y1.21 percent and adidas AG went up by 1.11 percent. On the other hand, HeidelbergCement AG lost 6.32 percent. Volkswagen AG Vz slipped by 2.33 percent. Linde AG, an industrial gas company, slid by 1.9 percent .Continental AG, plunged by 1.4 percent. Henkel AG ' Co. KGaA Vz, a home care company, went down by 0.94 percent.

The turnover stood at 3.75 billion euros (around 4.15 billion U. S. dollars). Bayer AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 442.85 million euros (around 489.91 million U.S. dollars).
