Tokyo shares erased morning gains, moving to negative territory by ending the trading Wednesday as investors are still worried about global economy.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down 70.29 points, or 0.39 percent, from Tuesday at 18,095.40.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 12.12 points, or 0.82 percent, to 1, 465.99. Decliners were led by pulp and paper, mining, and oil and coal products. The turnover was about 2,965.4 billion yen (about 24.65 billion U.S. dollars).
