Tokyo shares ended the trading Wednesday higher on upbeat domestic earnings reports but sentiment here was also weighed by U.S. monetary policy decision due later the day.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average jumped up 125.98 points, or 0.67 percent, from Tuesday at 18,903.02. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 4.08 points, or 0.26 percent, at 1,547. 19. Gainers were led by air transport, information and communication, and pulp and paper issues. The turnover was about 2,164.4 billion yen (about 17.98 billion U.S. dollars).
