Share prices on China's Shanghai and Shenzhen stock bourses corrected in a small range and closed higher on Friday, as small-caps, especially those listed on the ChiNext board continued to post strong gains. For the whole day, the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index increased 1.37 percent to end at 3,630.50 points.
The Shenzhen Composite Index surged 1.27 percent to end at 2,285.83 points. The index for small firms advanced 0.72 percent to end at 8,580.42 and the ChiNext Index rose 1.06 percent to end at 2,800.15. Combined turnover of the two bourses shrank to 1.08 trillion yuan from 859.8 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
All listed sectors except for securities dealers, insurance, and hotels ended in the positive territory, led by aviation devices, telecom equipment, chemical fiber, computer equipment, home appliances, software services, nonferrous metals, paper-making, property, and logistics sectors led the gainers on Friday.
On the stock index futures market, the IF December contract decreased 0.64 percent to end at 3,644.8, reversing to a discount of 129.58 points over the underlying Hushen 300 Index, which edged down 0.02 percent to end at 3,774.38. The SSE 50 December contract fell 0.57 percent to end at 2,413.2, reversing to a discount of 53.56 points over the underlying SSE 50 Index, which edged down 0.07 percent to close at 2,466.76. The CSI November contract increased 0.44 percent to end at 7,442.6, keeping a discount of 363.67 points to the underlying CSI 500 stock index, which rose 1.14 percent to end at 7,806.27. The November contracts expired on Friday.
