The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 484.01 points, or 2. 61 percent, from Tuesday to end the day at 19,049.91, while the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange added 38.17 points, or 2.54 percent, to finish at 1,540. 72. All industries on the main section closed higher except air transportation-linked shares, with notable advancers being led by securities, transport equipment and banking-related issues.
