Tokyo shares opened the trading Wednesday lower as investors sought to lock in recent gains after a three-day rise amid easing anxieties over Brexit.
At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 82.44 points, or 0.51 percent, from Tuesday to 16,086.67.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 6.72 points, or 0.52 percent, to 1, 287.18.
