Nikkei hits 3-month high on halt in yen's appreciation

Tokyo shares ended at a roughly three-month high Tuesday on a halt in the yen's appreciation against the U.S. dollar.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 44.35 points, or 0. 26 percent, from Monday at 17,081.98.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 8.73 points, or 0.65 percent, higher at 1,352.58.

Gainers were led by fishery, agriculture and forestry, miscellaneous product and construction issues.

The day's turnover was about 1,624.9 billion yen (around 15.69 billion U.S. dollars).
