Tokyo shares opened slightly lower Tuesday morning on media reports about the Korean Peninsula issue.
As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 38.17 points, or 0.17 percent, from Monday to 22,457.82.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 2.42 points, or 0.14 percent, to 1,774.31.
Decliners were led by insurance, real estate and mining issues.
