Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.72 percent to 2,533.09 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.58 percent higher at 7,400.2 points.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, was up 1.84 percent to close at 1,268.06 points Monday.

The ChiNext Index, together with the Shenzhen Component Index and the Shenzhen SME (small and medium-sized enterprises) Board Index, are major indices reflecting the performance of stocks listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

Hong Kong stocks closed up 209.67 points, or 0.82 percent, to 25,835.7 points on Monday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 25,753.46 and 26,043.64. Turnover totaled 77.48 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 9.88 billion U.S. dollars).
