TOKYO, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Friday as investor sentiment was dented by geopolitical concerns following two oil tankers being attacked near the Strait of Hormuz the previous day.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 46.15 points, or 0.22 percent, from Thursday to 20,985.85. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 3.29 points, or 0.21 percent, at 1,538.21.

Marine transportation, farm and fishery, and chemical-oriented issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
