TOKYO, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Wednesday as a comparatively firm yen against the U.S. dollar soured the market mood, despite Wall Street bouncing back overnight.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 72.32 points, or 0.35 percent, from Tuesday to 20,512.99.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 2.71 points, or 0.18 percent, at 1,496.52.
Metal product, farm and fishery, and precision instrument-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
