The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 220.75 points, or 0.79 percent, to 28,132.05. The S&P 500 rose 26.94 points, or 0.86 percent, to 3,168.57. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 63.27 points, or 0.73 percent, to 8,717.32.
The Cboe Volatility Index, widely considered the best fear gauge in the stock market, dipped 7 percent to 13.94 on Thursday.
As of Wednesday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 3,063.65, marking a 0.54-percent increase for the month-to-date returns and a 33.71-percent gain for the year-to-date returns.
