U.S.-listed Chinese firms trade mostly higher

NEW YORK, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly higher on Wednesday with six of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on an upbeat note.

Shares of TAL Education Group and Baidu rose 2.32 percent and 2.30 percent, respectively, leading the gainers in the top 10 stocks in the index.

Shares of Pinduoduo and NetEase erased 2.56 percent and 0.97 percent, respectively, the top two laggards in the top 10.

U.S. stocks closed mixed on Wednesday as investors digested a batch of corporate news.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 27.88 points, or 0.10 percent, to 28,239.28. The S&P 500 fell 1.38 points, or 0.04 percent, to 3,191.14. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 4.38 points, or 0.05 percent, to 8,827.73.

As of Tuesday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 3,144.70, marking a 3.20-percent increase for the month-to-date returns and a 37.24-percent gain for the year-to-date returns.
