U.S.-listed Chinese firms trade mostly lower

NEW YORK, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly lower on Tuesday with six of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on a downbeat note.

Shares of NetEase and Trip.com Group fell 0.82 percent and 0.55 percent, respectively, leading the decliners in the top 10 stocks in the index.

Pinduoduo and Yum China Holdings climbed 0.4 percent and 0.12 percent, respectively, leading the gainers in the top 10 stocks in the index.

U.S. stocks ended mixed in the shortened Christmas Eve session Tuesday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased 36.08 points, or 0.13 percent, to close at 28,515.45. The S&P 500 erased 0.63 points, or 0.02 percent, to 3,223.38. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 7.24 points, or 0.08 percent, to 8,952.88.

The Cboe Volatility Index, widely considered the best fear gauge in the stock market, rose 0.48 percent to 12.67 on Tuesday.

As of Monday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 3,211.58, marking a 5.40-percent increase for the month-to-date returns and a 40.16-percent gain for the year-to-date returns.
