TOKYO, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Tuesday following an upbeat lead from Wall Street overnight including the Dow Jones Industrial Average which logged its biggest point gain in history on hopes central banks will roll out measures to stabilize markets and underpin economies amid the spread of the coronavirus.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 245.95 points, or 1.15 percent, from Monday to 21,590.03.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 17.51 points, or 1.15 percent, to 1,543.38.
Oil and coal product, pulp and paper, and pharmaceutical issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
