TOKYO, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Thursday as investor sentiment was lifted by U.S. shares advancing overnight and prices for crude oil bouncing back.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 8.97 points, or 0.64 percent, at 1,415.87.

Mining, oil and coal product, and rubber product-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
