Tokyo stocks open lower on profit-taking after market's rise

TOKYO, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Monday as investors opted to secure profits made following the Nikkei gaining more than 3 percent late last week.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 221.20 points, or 1.11 percent, from Friday to 19,676.06.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 7.22 points, or 0.50 percent, at 1,435.32.

Real estate, precision instrument and construction issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
