Tokyo stocks advance in morning as oil price rebound lifts mood

TOKYO, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Thursday morning as investor sentiment was lifted by crude oil futures recovering overnight in New York which helped buoy U.S. and European shares.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 128.00 points, or 0.67 percent, from Wednesday to 19,265.95.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 7.40 points, or 0.53 percent, at 1,414.30.

Mining, nonferrous metal, and oil and coal product-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
