U.S.-listed Chinese firms trade mostly lower

NEW YORK, May 28 (Xinhua) -- U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly lower on Thursday, with eight of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on a downbeat note.

Shares of NetEase and JD.com slid 2.88 percent and 2.19 percent, respectively, leading the decliners in the top 10 stocks in the index.

Shares of ZTO Express and Pinduoduo rose 2.84 percent and 0.07 percent, respectively, the only two gainers in the top 10 stocks.

U.S. stocks finished lower on Thursday as investors pored through a slew of economic data.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased 147.63 points, or 0.58 percent, to 25,400.64. The S&P 500 was down 6.40 points, or 0.21 percent, to 3,029.73. The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 43.37 points, or 0.46 percent, to 9,368.99.

The Cboe Volatility Index, widely considered as the best fear gauge in the stock market, climbed 3.51 percent to 28.59.

As of Wednesday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 3,429.61, marking a 6.08-percent increase for the month-to-date returns and an 8.28-percent gain for the year-to-date returns.
