Tokyo stocks rise in morning on hopes for U.S. economy, improved business mood

TOKYO, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Thursday morning on increased optimism for the U.S. economic recovery after solid employment data, with a Bank of Japan survey showing improved sentiment among large manufacturers also adding support.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 334.79 points, or 1.15 percent, from Wednesday to 29,513.59.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 12.09 points, or 0.62 percent, at 1,966.09.

Insurance, precision instrument and electric appliance issues comprised those that advanced the most by the morning break.
