German shares gain 0.63 pct at start of trading on Wednesday

BERLIN, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- German stocks were off to a good start on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index rising 98.52 points, or 0.63 percent, opening at 15,653.6 points.

The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies was online food delivery company Delivery Hero, increasing by 2.94 percent, followed by chipmaker Infineon with 2.03 percent and carmaker BMW with 1.54 percent.

Shares of Siemens Energy fell by 0.38 percent after announcing a net loss of 307 million euros (364 U.S. dollars) in the third quarter of the fiscal year. The energy division of German technology giant Siemens was the biggest loser at the start of trading on Wednesday.

The yield on German ten-year bonds declined 0.0045 percentage point to minus 0.4865 percent and the euro was trading unchanged at 1.1863 U.S. dollars on Wednesday morning.
