Japan's reserve assets edge up in June

Japan's official reserve assets in June increased about 0.91 percent from the previous month, according to statistics released Thursday by the ministry of Finance.

Reserve assets in Japan totaled 1265.402 billion U.S. dollars as of June 30, up 11.435 billion dollars from the end of May.

Foreign currency reserves totaled 1202.686 billion dollars at the end of June. The reserve position in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was 12.37 billion dollars in the month.

The Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) stood at 17.327 billion dollars in June, while the value of gold reserves came in at 32. 494 billion dollars. Other foreign currency assets stood at 63.481 billion dollars by the end of June, including loans to The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) in total of 61.908 billion dollars.
